1.1 About Malaika Foundation

Malaika Foundation (MF) is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) engaged in improving the quality of life for the youth and young civil society leaders through enhanced livelihoods, access to services, expanded capabilities and strategic leadership of girls and women. We believe that there must be a re-imagination of leadership and models of governance for reforms and realization of socio-economic opportunities guaranteed through devolution.

1.2 Malaika Foundation Framework

This strategic plan is framed around four mutually integrated and complementary pillars. These pillars are: human rights and access to justice; human security and development; just democratic governance and constitutionalism; and institutional growth and sustainability. These pillars have been structured into strategic goals as below:

  1. Champion and accelerate access to justice for young adults and communities that live in environments where their human rights are frequently violated.
  2. Champion and expand opportunities for increased human safety and sustainable development of communities by building strong communities and credible institutions.
  3. Contribute to improved culture of democratization, inclusive and accountable governance systems that favour young adults and communities that live in environments where their human rights are frequently violated.
  4. Position MF as an autonomous and sustainable organisation that advances capabilities and expands opportunities for the realisation of social justice.
